As far as museums go, there are few more fascinating than Pichi Pichi Railways, a moving museum, which operates on restored steam and heritage diesel engines on the oldest remaining section of the old Ghan railway between Quorn and Port Augusta and is operated, maintained and managed by volunteer members. This museum boasts the largest display of war memorabilia of its type in regional SA. From the Boer War through both World Wars and to Australia's most recent conflicts. the museum showcases photos, memorabilia and aretecfacts donated or on permanent loan from Port Augusta families. Expierence the Leopard Tank and M2A2 105mm Howitzer up close which was built in 1978 and was used by the Australian Army but never fired a shot.
