If you’re a keen mountain biker, we recommend bringing yours along to enjoy the diversity of easy-to-ride tracks that surround Undara. Flat Rock-Circle View Track takes you to a flat granite rock with several waterholes on top. Along the 100 Mile Swamp edge there is often pooled water which creates an oasis for small birds. Reach the summit of the granite knoll and be rewarded by 360-degree views of the lava plains below. Rosella Plains Lookout Track offers fantastic views of McBride’s Volcanic Province and is another easy trail suitable for all levels. Cross Iron Pot Creek along the Pioneer Track and continue south-westerly along the lowlands. Reach ‘Cardiac Climb’ toward Jump Up Lookout and look out for the green marker posts.

The Undara Lava Tubes are a delicate ecosystem that deserve respect. All tours run by Undara Experience are hosted by trained Savannah Guides and bookings are essential. Choose from the 2-hour Archway Explorer, which is a gentle introduction to the environmental, geological, and historical features of the region, or the Wind Tunnel Explorer where you will experience lava tube touring in its rawest form. A moderate level of fitness is recommended on the latter tour as you will encounter uneven surfaces and be asked to scramble over rocks in some sections. On both tours a hat, sunscreen, torch, water bottle and enclosed shoes are recommended.
