Where will you be when Santa comes to town?
We reached out to some of our favourite travel influencers and asked the same question. Here’s what they told us!
@4boysandacaravan
With three and a half years of full-time travel under their belt, we’ve been featuring this family of six quite a bit this year!
Asked what their favourite travel experience of 2021 was, the family were in no doubt.
“Our favourite part of our travels in 2021 is definitely exploring the Ningaloo Coast in Western Australia. The amazing campsites combined with incredible clear blue water filled with an abundance of corals and marine life is what dreams are made of.”
Having crisscrossed the country from East to West in 2021, they’ll be putting down anchor on Queensland’s Capricorn Coast in Yeppoon on Christmas Day.
“We are planning on heading to the beach for the day which is our favourite thing to do as a family. There are some amazing beaches up here where we can park the car on the beach and set up our awning to relax with some food and drinks.”

This full time travel family of five based in Western Australia are heading south from their residence in Port Hedland to the resort town of Exmouth on WA’s North West Cape.
Known for its location at the northern gateway to the Ningaloo Coast World Heritage Area, Exmouth is the perfect base to explore the Cape Range National Park and swim with awe-inspiring whale sharks, manta rays and humpback whales!
On the way down to this amazing destination, they’ll be meeting up with some mates who are another travelling family of four @shutes_and_theopenroad!
“We’re headed to Exmouth for Christmas and treating ourselves by staying in a house with our travelling mates instead of our van for a change!
“Christmas Day will be giving and unwrapping gifts, followed by a yummy brunch then a late arvo lunch of seafood and salad, probably followed by a relaxing beach swim.”
Sounds terrible guys, Can we come?
@oursandydays
Another travelling family of five, these guys are based in Gippsland, Victoria, but love spreading their wings in their renovated 1978 Viscount caravan. Despite having been confined to their home state for much of 2021, Chris and Ben and their three kids have still managed some awesome adventures.
“One of our favourite trips for the year was to Mallacoota over Easter. It was the mix of perfect weather, great company and lots of things to do that ticked all the boxes.Close second would be Halls Gap. We loved having a campfire at night time and exploring The Grampians during the day.”
As far as Christmas is concerned, the Stoertebeckers will also be staying close to home, mixing the outdoors with some family tradition.
“We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve (Czech tradition) and then have a more Aussie-inspired Christmas with our other side of the family on Christmas Day. Our Christmas Eve dinner consists of meatball soup, crumbed fish and chicken, paired with traditional Czech potato salad. We play games and exchange gifts into the night.”
“Christmas Day is a roast lunch, usually in the warm outdoors, along with a nice spread for sweets.”
Anyone else feeling hungry?

Mum to four Ally loves nothing more than an adventure by the beach with her brood. This year’s been tough to get away for the Northern Rivers family, but that doesn’t mean Christmas won’t be full of the usual amount of fun!
“Everyone’s coming to me this year!"
“We are having lunch with a family a few streets away and dinner at my place. I’m actually excited to be staying home this year on Christmas! Unfortunately all of the lockdowns mean we haven’t been away this year and why we’ve decided to stay local with friends.
“It’s made us even more excited for our stay with you!”

Working hard to make time for herself while raising three boys, Adelaide Mum blogger Zarah and her family will be following her usual routine of packing the car and heading up to the Riverland for Christmas.
“On Christmas Day we wake up super early to unwrap presents with the kids. We then spend the morning listening to Christmas carols before we pack the car and head to Renmark with the family! We love it there.”
With her brother in town for the first time in two years and all the usual shenanigans - including a spot of beer pong? - it looks like being a big one.
“We’ll be having Christmas lunch at my uncle’s place. They have a big pool and property for the kids to play and swim. We will also be eating loads of yummy foods!”
Asked what her favourite family trip had been this year, Zarah couldn’t go past a stay in Lake Bonney.
“We’ve been there twice this year and the kids loved it both times!”
