Things to see and do in the Barossa Valley

18 Jun 2020

The Barossa Valley needs little introduction. The region is known for good food and internationally renowned wine but, there is so much more to see and do than just eat and drink! The team of locals at Discovery Parks - Barossa Valley have put together their must see and do activities for your stay in their wine region.

Park Manager Jacky says that there isn't much better than a visit to Menglers Hill lookout at sunset with a picnic basket including a bottle of local wine and Barossa tasting platter. The views over the valley are far reaching, making you appreciate just how special this part of the world really is. The patchwork vineyards which dot across the hills are a photographer's delight!

If wine isn't your taste, then Park Manager Bill has you covered. He suggests grabbing a bottle or 2 of beer from one of the local breweries. Barossa Valley Brewery (conveniently located just over the road from our park!), Steinies Taphouse or Rehn Bier are all thrist-quenching options that he loves to unwind with after a busy day looking after guests.

Always a Barossa favourite, Park Team Member Kristal reckons Maggie Beer's Farm is the place to go to get some great local produce. Visit the Farm Shop and sample some of the famous flavours before you snap up a few goodies to take back to your cabin or campsite.

The Barossa Farmers Market has been operating for many years and is filled with super fresh and local produce from the region's suppliers. Anyone keen for some shopping? Janette says you can't go past the main street of Tanunda for some retail therapy. Just an short 10-minute stroll from the park, you'll spend hours checking out the local boutiques with takeaway coffee in hand.

If you're a sweet-tooth, Joe says guests must absolutely visit the Barossa Valley Chocolate Company. You can watch the talented chocolatiers making the tasty treats before getting the chance to sample a few for yourself!
