Ready to head to a winter wonderland? Come June long weekend, Thredbo and Perisher will really kick into gear with events throughout the season. From music festivals to family fun days, prepare yourself for plenty of stoke both on and off the slopes.
Thredbo Opening Weekend
When: 8-10 June 2019
Where: Thredbo Resort, Friday Dr, Thredbo NSW 2625
https://www.thredbo.com.au/events/winter-opening-weekend/
Celebrate the start of the snow season in Thredbo! Find your zen (and maybe some om, too) with ski stretch yoga. What's there for the kids? A paint party, play zone, bingo and face painting. On the Saturday night, make sure to look up at the Thredbo sky to watch it absolutely burst with colour during the fireworks.
Peak Festival
When: 7-10 June 2019
Where: Kosciuszko Rd, Perisher Valley NSW 2624
peakfestival.com.au
A massive line-up of musos, free kids' entertainment and snow play - all in one place? It sounds too good to be true, but Peak Festival is as real as your yearly goggle tan. Kwame is headlining this year, alongside Ash Grunwald, Kristy Lee, True Vibenation and more. A four-day pass is good value with free night skiing and unlimited scenic chairlift rides.
July & September Kids Snow Festival
When: 1-19 July 2019 | 22 Sept - 6 Oct 2019
Where: Thredbo Resort, Friday Dr, Thredbo NSW 2625

When the holidays come around, kids are beside themselves to get to sleep in, eat snacks when they want, and spend time hanging out with their friends. Parents love the extra quality time, but it can be a bit daunting to find ways to fill up the time. The Kids Snow Festival in July is all about entertaining the kids and the adults. Let's face it, school holidays are best spent making snow angels and new friends on the bunny hills. There are heaps of free activities, movie and pizza nights, and night skiing (with plenty of time for Mum & Dad to unwind at the ski lodge).
Torah Bright Mini Shred
When: 14 July 2019, 9:30am-3:30pm
Where: Friday Flat Terrain Park, Thredbo Resort NSW 2625
https://www.thredbo.com.au/events/torah-bright-mini-shred/
Homegrown Olympic gold medallist Torah Bright is swinging by Thredbo with her friends to teach mini shredders some new tricks! Join this free day of family fun of games, prizes, and riding alongside some of the biggest names in Aussie snow sports. Know your kids (and you) will get hangry without a feed? Enjoy a classic sausage sizzle at lunch to fuel up for the non-stop shredding.
Christmas in July
When: 25 July 2019, 3:30-4:30pm
Where: Friday Flat Clock Tower, Thredbo Resort, NSW 2625
https://www.thredbo.com.au/events/christmas-in-july-2019/
Who knew Santa had skills on the pow? If you've always dreamt of a White Christmas, this July is your chance to make it all come true. Santa will be handing out deliciously warm, soft biscuits on the mountain. Meet the jolly man himself at the clock tower in the afternoon - you'll get a picture worthy of framing for your mantle.
Onesie Wednesdays
When: Every Wednesday throughout the snow season
Where: Charlotte Pass NSW 2624
charlottepass.com.au/
Tucked into Kosciuszo National Park is the resort Charlotte Pass - a totally family friendly spot with pretty reasonable slopes. Each Wednesday, don your finest onesie for the day on the mountain. Prepare yourself to see koalas, zebras, sharks, and elephants riding. Remember that the onesie isn't a protective shield from the cold, so wrap yourself up in thermals and snow pants underneath.
Snowtunes
When: 30-31 August 2019
Where: Open Air Stage, Jindabyne NSW
snowtunes.com.au/
The biggest snow music festival in the southern hemisphere, Triple J's Snowtunes is a ripper event. Set on the shores of Lake Jindabyne, the line-up in 2019 always features a line-up - so stay tuned for the announcements in June! Rug up and spend all day Friday and Saturday on the slopes and all night jamming.
