Visiting Fremantle is a lot like having a birthday party. You’ve got the great, indulgent foods (hams, pastas, sauces, sweets, breads), drinks everywhere (coffee, spritzers, cocktails, beers, wines, spirits), wacky and wonderful gifts (novelty shirts anyone?), performers (there’s always one singer at the party), laughter and tears (usually from too much laughter). See, exactly like a birthday.
Add a bunch of historical and natural attractions, and you have a party on your hands! Events in Fremantle run regularly and are of the best things to do during your stay. In fact Fremantle has one festival or another happening for six months of the year.
Immerse yourself into one or all of these festivals:
January/February
- Forget boring! Try the Fringe. From the end of January through to the end of February, discover exciting and out-of-the-box performances for all ages. Cabaret, children's shows, circus, dance, film, musicals, street performers, theatre, and more.
March

Araluen’s Fremantle Chilli Festival:
This 2-day event contains 100 stalls packed with chilli products, from plants and condiments to sweets and beverages. Along side these are celebrity chefs, theatre and music. - This Fremantle festival was born out of a back alley in Melbourne CBD and has travelled around Australia, taking with its relaxed approach to music. Bands like Architecture in Helsinki, The Presets and The Avalanches have been known to pop up for a gig.
-
West Coast Blues ‘N’ Roots Festival:
Bob Dylan headlined this festival in 2011, Crosby, Stills and Nash have also been a part of this great concert, not to mention John Mayer, Ben Harper and John Fogerty. Sounds good, right?
April

November
- Everything you need to know about beer in one place. This Fremantle event is a hit every single year. Master classes are available and tasting plates are abundant - but what’s a great beer without entertainment? Live music plays day and night for your enjoyment. Fremantle has thought of it all. With the Swan Valley in the same state, you know there is plenty of great local drinks to be had!
They know how to party in Fremantle, and they also do relaxed very well. With calm beaches like Bathers Bay and Leighton’s Beach, more coffee shops than you can poke a stick at and wonderful World Heritage listed buildings, you can steer away from the hustle and bustle for something more subdued.
