6. Devonport Food & Wine Festival

Tasmania is known for its specialty foods: wild abalone, honey from the Leatherwood trees of the Tasmanian rainforest and truffles. It won't be any surprise to know that when the town of Devonport cooks up a dish, they do it well. Giving it that Tassie panache, the Devonport Food & Wine Festival is a month of uncovering the tastes of the North Coast. The chefs, cheesemakers and other producers pour a lot of love and soul into what they make, and that certainly shows through in what you sample. We recommend taking part in a traditional high tea - just remember to dab your lips and lift your pinkies!

If you've done a day with your friends of a few wineries or have always dreamt of going, this weekend is a unique time to experience the Barossa Valley flavours. They have award-winning wines, cooking classes with world-class chefs and dish samples from local kitchens. This natural phenomenon can only be experienced in this section of the country in the west Kimberley region. While Staircase to the Moon only lasts between 10-20 minutes, you'll thank your lucky stars that you had the chance to see the orange moonlight reflecting in its magnificence off of the water.
